National Payroll Week 2019; Keeping the UK paid!

Between 2-6 September, the payroll industry celebrated the 21st National Payroll Week. The annual celebration is led by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) and is intended to raise the profile and awareness of payroll in the UK.

For most UK organisations, payroll is a significant expenditure; couple that with regular changes to legislation and the whole process can quickly become confusing and time-consuming, as a consequence.

National Payroll Week is something we always look forward to participating in. (Besides giving us a reason to bake cakes), it presents us with the perfect opportunity to educate local businesses on the benefits of outsourcing and how we can help them to eliminate their payroll worries.

At GH Payscheme, we understand that the payroll function can be a source of much frustration and uncertainty for many employers. From auto-enrolment obligations to generating payslips and real-time information reporting, it can be overwhelming.

However, we also firmly believe that with the right support in place, this doesn’t have to be the case. As business owners and employers you can rest assured that, with us, your payroll is in safe hands.

We thoroughly enjoyed this year’s celebrations, which saw us hold an office bake sale and stage our very own ‘payroll festival’. We look forward to doing it all again next year!

Did you know?

Until then, we thought we would leave you with some fun and surprising facts about payroll courtesy of the CIPP:

  • At least one piece of payroll legislation, still in effect, dates back more than 150 years
  • More than 96% of employees are still paid monthly
  • 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of the introduction of PAYE in the UK
  • In the UK, there are 174 pieces of payroll legislation currently affecting payroll
