For us, the end of the ‘summer holidays’ always brings with it talk of Self-Assessment season.

If you normally file a Self-Assessment tax return, you will need to send it HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for the tax year 2022 to 2023 and pay any tax you owe by Wednesday 31 January 2024.

The deadline itself perpetuates the idea that, as we write this in September, it is too soon to supply information to your accountant, or to be concerned with starting to prepare your return.

Year-on-year, we do our very best to dispel this myth and to encourage a proactive approach to filing tax returns.

Prompt supply of information means we have ample time to review your paperwork, raise and discuss any anomalies with you, to iron these out and to produce a tax return that is accurate and in a position to be submitted ahead of the deadline.

Early submission of your Self-Assessment tax return can help you to better manage your liabilities, to secure any tax refunds you are due sooner and to avoid any late filing or payment penalties.
