Q1. Describe George Hay in one word?
Caring
Q2. What would you say are the benefits of undertaking your training whilst also working full-time as part of the George Hay team?
One key benefit for me was seeing the college theory reflecting in day to day work. Learning the why’s alongside the how’s has been invaluable.
Q3. Food heaven and food hell?
Roast dinners with all the trimmings, and pizza with olives or pineapple.
Q4. Describe yourself in three words?
Optimistic, friendly and passionate
Q5. My dream holiday destination is…
Nevada, USA. From the casinos in Vegas to skiing in the Grand Canyon, it just seems like an incredible place to go.
Q6. What do you hope to achieve at George Hay, in the next 12 months?
Another 2 exams will see me to the end of AAT, so I would say that in the next 12 months I hope to take my next step towards Chartered status.
Q7. Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t already know?
Visiting Mexico is another item on my bucket list. 2 weeks in the Mexican sun, eating as much food as possible with a tequila sunrise in my hands at all times.
Q8. Your specialist subject on Mastermind would be…
It would have to be the US Office tv show. I must have seen it 5 times through.
Q9. What advice would you give to other young people considering a career in accountancy?
Ring as many accountancy firms as you can. It only takes one person to give you a chance.
Q10. Accountancy aside, if you could do any job for one day what would it be?
Using my love of skiing, I would spend a day as an instructor in the Alps.
