On 7th August 2000, Amy Law joined George Hay having gained a degree in Geography & Business Administration.
In the 20 years that have passed since, she has undertaken her training to become a qualified chartered accountant, spent a number of years assisting small and medium sized business clients with accounting, taxation and audit matters and, most recently, was appointed Practice Accountant in April 2019.
When asked how it feels to have reached such a milestone, and to reflect on her career so far, Amy said: “It certainly feels surreal to be reflecting on 20 years – though, I can’t easily forget how long I’ve been with the firm – as the current calendar year is always an annual reminder!
“Having completed my training throughout my initial years at the firm, I’ve been able to go on to enjoy many opportunities during my time at George Hay. I’ve certainly appreciated the variety of work that I’ve been able to get involved in; which, alongside the types of business mentioned above, has also included work overseas and specialist assignments involving charities and academies. I’ve relished the chance to be able to visit clients on a regular basis, get to know them and their businesses and assist them with their progression and growth. I’ve also really enjoyed working alongside the great teams of colleagues that I’ve been privileged to a be a part of over the years – having now spent years working at all three of the firm’s offices.
“As well as a lot of dedication and hard work, there has been much fun along the way too. Some highlights that spring to mind include helping with the annual preparations for the George Hay quiz night; enjoying various social events over the years including our 75th anniversary trip to London and being able to take part in a sponsored 24 hour climb of the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.
“I’m now enjoying settling into my new role as Practice Accountant and getting to grips with the new challenges and experiences that this brings.”
Congratulations Amy!
