Colin joined the firm in 2002 and in his role as accounts manager, he works mainly with small and medium-sized enterprises and owner-managed companies in a variety of sectors. Colin offers expertise in areas including the use of bespoke accounting software, producing financial management information and helping clients to interpret and understand it effectively.
Colin is also our academies manager and he works with schools at all stages of their academy journey, from pre-conversion to helping them maximise the benefits of academy status once they have made the transition.
Describe yourself in three words?
I asked my friends to help me with this……they’re not my friends anymore! I’d say diligent, friendly and happy.
What do you enjoy most about working at George Hay?
I enjoy the variation in my role. Meeting, working and developing relationships with a variety of different people and gaining an insight into a broad range of businesses and industries.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Can I say, ‘a buffet’?! If not, then something spicy I guess.
If any actor (dead or alive) could play you in the movie of your life, who would you cast and why?
Verne Troyer. Fairly self explanatory.

Accommodating
If you weren’t working as an Accountant, what would you be doing instead?
I generally try not to think in ‘what if’s’. However, the thought of being a stay at home Dad and spending all my time with my son is appealing!
If you were to write a Bucket List, what might we find on it?
It would generally be filled with travel destinations; Igazu falls, Havana, Iceland….
What advice would you give to somebody thinking of becoming an Accountant?
Make sure you research what the role entails and whether it appeals to you, there’s a lot of common misconceptions about what it is we actually do!
(In the spirit of summer…) When on holiday are you a sunbather or a sightseer?
Both!! Depending on the amount of sights to see and sun to bathe in.
