The appointment coincides with George Hay Chartered Accountants’ continued growth and ongoing commitment to delivering expert-led client service.
George Hay Chartered Accountants, a leading accountancy and advisory firm with offices in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, has welcomed Jamie Spender on board as a Tax Director.
This significant appointment reflects George Hay’s commitment to continuing to enhance its tax advisory capabilities for clients, to developing the wider practice and to delivering an expert-led client service, and will see Jamie work closely with Partners across all three of the firm’s offices, including Tax Partner Barry Jefferd.
Having spent a number of years working in practice, for a mid-tier national firm, Jamie is an experienced Chartered Certified Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser.
Jamie specialises in advising private clients on personal tax matters, taking a comprehensive approach to tax planning and the structuring of an individual’s tax affairs, and he has previously looked after a varied portfolio ranging from small sole traders and SMEs to large complex family estates.
His expertise encompasses complex Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, including the use of Trusts and Family Investment Company vehicles, and he has advised a number of SME business owners exiting their businesses on how to efficiently navigate the associated tax implications.
On joining the firm, Jamie said, “I am delighted to join George Hay as Tax Director, and to be in a position to use my skill and experience to bolster the firm’s tax advisory offering for both existing and new clients.
“At a time when the tax framework is constantly evolving and tax regimes are changing much more regularly than in the past, it is essential that SME business owners in particular are giving careful consideration to tax and succession planning.
George Hay’s position as an independent, client-focused firm that prioritises client service and comprehensive support, provides an excellent platform to deliver bespoke advice tailored to each client’s circumstances, which reflects what clients are increasingly looking for from their advisers.”
Jamie’s focus will be on providing bespoke tax advisory support to private clients, and in particular, those individuals with wide-ranging and complex tax challenges.
“We are delighted to welcome Jamie to the firm. His extensive experience and client-centric approach make him an excellent fit and will further strengthen our private client offering, giving our clients confidence to navigate an increasingly sophisticated tax landscape,” said Joint Managing Partner Martin Williams.
