George Hay has announced the appointment of Sam Brown as Audit & Accounts Director, strengthening its senior team as the firm continues to expand its specialist support for businesses across the East of England.
Sam, who will assist Partners Samantha Green and Barry Jefferd with managing the Huntingdon office, joins from another established practice and brings almost 20 years’ experience in audit and accounts, working with a broad range of clients ranging from sole trader accounts and tax returns to larger charities and groups.
The recruitment is part of the firm’s wider strategy to build additional strength across audit and accounts, with a particular focus on Huntingdon and the surrounding areas.
Huntingdon is recognised as one of Cambridgeshire’s strongest manufacturing bases, with a significant concentration of manufacturing businesses, established supply chains and strong transport links via the A14 corridor. This makes the area an attractive base for ambitious businesses operating in manufacturing, engineering, logistics and related sectors.
As local companies grow, invest and adapt to changing commercial pressures, demand for robust audit support and strategic accounts advice continues to increase.
With additional senior expertise in place, George Hay continues to be perfectly placed to help businesses meet their compliance obligations while also providing practical insight to support better decision-making, stronger financial reporting and long-term resilience.
Partners, Barry Jefferd and Samantha Green, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sam to the firm. His depth of experience across audit and accounts, practical commercial understanding and knowledge of regional business challenges will be invaluable as we continue to grow our services across the East of England.
“Huntingdon and the surrounding area are home to many ambitious businesses. Sam’s appointment is an important step in helping us meet increasing demand for audit and accounts expertise that is technically strong, commercially focused and genuinely accessible.”
Commenting on his appointment, Sam said: “Having spent nearly 20 years building my career within one firm, I am delighted to have now joined George Hay as Audit and Accounts Director.
“My professional background spans audit, accounts, personal tax and the charity sector, providing me with a broad perspective on the needs of organisations and the people behind them.
“As I take on this role, my focus is on delivering high-quality advice, developing strong client relationships whilst also supporting the growth and development of the team here at George Hay. I look forward to helping clients achieve their ambitions whilst contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
The appointment underlines George Hay’s focus on combining technical expertise with approachable, informed support for businesses across Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire and the wider East of England. For clients, it represents a continued investment in the practical, senior-level support George Hay is known for, helping businesses access the advice they need as they grow and adapt.
