Following a tenure as Vice President of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT), our Senior Tax Partner Barry Jefferd has now been made Deputy President.

Taking over from Graham Batty, who is now President, Barry accepted his new role at the ATT’s AGM in July.

The ATT is a charity and the leading professional body for those providing UK tax compliance services.

It provides examinations for those wishing to promote and develop their career in taxation and also responds to and advises Government on the development of the UK system to ensure efficiency and fairness.

Since 1988, Barry has been an active member of the CIOT/ATT Mid-Anglia Branch Committee, serving as both Branch Secretary and Chairman.

He also spent 17 years as a member of the CIOT Education Committee, helping to shape the future of tax education and professional development.

More recently, he joined ATT Council in 2021, and he also currently serves as Chair of the Exam Steering Group.

All of this demonstrates his commitment to the profession, and to sharing his wealth of tax knowledge with his peers and the next generation of tax professionals.

On accepting his new role, Barry said: “I am very much looking forward to working alongside Graham, and my successor Ele Theochari, to share knowledge with those already in the profession and to inspire others to get involved in tax.

“Tax is incredibly important, but I also truly believe that it can be fun! That’s why one of the priorities for the leadership team is to involve members in the ATT’s voluntary work with schools and students, to show that tax can offer a range of rewarding and engaging career opportunities.

“Ultimately, having been involved with the ATT and the CIOT for many years,  I am looking forward to continuing the work of my skilled predecessors, to ensure the ATT remains at the heart of the tax community.”
