Hayley joined George Hay in 2007 as a trainee accountant after gaining a first-class honours degree in Accounting. She qualified with ACCA in 2010.
Her work mainly focuses on auditing and accounts preparation for businesses of all sizes as well as the completion of corporation tax returns and assisting with the administration involved. She also helps clients to form new companies and deals with the statutory requirements of existing clients.
What do you enjoy most about your role at George Hay?
The people. It’s good to have a broad mix of personalities and a little bit of fun at work.
If you could time travel, would you rather go back in time, or forward and why?
I would like to go forwards in time as I am nosey and impatient.
Describe yourself in three words?
Reliable, Mischievous, Kind-hearted
Describe George Hay in one word?
Approachable
If you could instantly become fluent in another language, which would you choose?
Italian or French.
Your three desert island must-haves are…
Music, my kindle and a bar!
If you could do any job in the world, for just one day, what would it be?
Tom Hardy’s leading lady, or an author.
What is your food heaven and food hell?
Probably something traditional like Shepherd’s Pie or good old steak and chips. Food Hell would be fruit on a savoury meal. I don’t like fruit sauces with meat or pineapple on pizza.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in accountancy?
There is no need to do a degree in Accounting as you still need professional examinations afterwards. It is much better to learn on the job and you can then relate the task straight away to your studies rather than learning all the theory first without seeing it in practice.

The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley
