Q1. What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Enthusiastic, Organised & Determined

Q2. As a keen baker, what’s your favourite thing to bake?

Chocolate brownies

Q3. Describe George Hay in one word?

Friendly

Q4. Since most of us haven’t been on holiday for a while, do you have a favourite destination you’ve already visited, or somewhere you haven’t yet been to but would love to experience?

I visited Italy as a child and can’t wait to go back. I had a trip planned for last year to the Amalfi Coast and am hoping to finally go once restrictions are lifted.

Q5. You joined George Hay after finishing your A-levels. For you, what have been the benefits of being able to work in a practice environment whilst you study?

It’s great to be able to get practical experience while studying towards a qualification. I find it really helps solidify my learning when I can use the skills learnt in my day-to-day role.

Q6. What are you looking forward to most now that lockdown restrictions are easing?

I am definitely looking forward to going shopping again – online shopping just isn’t the same!

Q7. What does a typical day involve for the bookkeeping team?

No two days are the same for us! In the run up to the VAT deadline I will usually be found completing a client’s bookkeeping, running their VAT return, and liaising with them to get it approved. Software is also a big part of our day-to-day, since many of our clients have embraced digital tools to improve the quality of and access to data, and so I have got to know my way around a variety of different software packages since joining the team.

Q8. Your profile tells us you love animals – but if you could be any animal for just one day, what would it be and why?

At this time of year, I would like to be a cat so I could curl up on a chair in the sunshine.

Q9. How has your role evolved, since joining George Hay, and what do you enjoy most about being part of the team?

When I joined the team, I was involved in basic Bookkeeping tasks. Now, having worked through my AAT Level 3 studies, I have developed the knowledge to enable me to take on more complex tasks and VAT returns. I enjoy working as part of the team and being able to learn from my colleagues is really valuable.

Q10. Your profile also tells us you’re a keen photographer. How did it come about as a hobby of yours and do you have a favourite thing to photograph?

I was given a camera for a birthday present as a child, just before a holiday and I really enjoyed capturing the experience. My favourite thing to photograph would have to be my dogs!
